Broadway
July 18, 2004: Most of OBC, Sean McCourt (u/s Wizard) - Kristen, Norbert and Joel's last show. Joel did not perform because he was ill. Lots of fun moments throughout, especially during DTL. Vocally Kristen is amazing. She does high note in NOMTW. Popular is just wonderful (albeit somewhat unfocused); includes "How to be Popular" book. And Idina and Kristen are lovely together. You can tell that they have a really strong love and respect for each other and it's sad to see them separate. There's lots of tears throughout. Decent quality for it's time. A couple jumps here and there. Some nice closeups. Can be unfocused at times. A few blackouts and some shakiness. Act 1 has a few extended blackouts at the beginning. Some spotlight washout. Act 2 starts a bit after Thank Goodness (which is especially beautiful) begins. Includes tearful goodbye speech by Idina. (mp4/VOB)
September 19, 2004: Kristy Cates (u/s Elphaba), Jennifer Laura Thompson (Glinda), Joey McIntyre (Fiyero), Carole Shelley (Morrible), George Hearn (Wizard), Michelle Federer (Nessarose), Christopher Fitzgerald (Boq). This is an old show. So it looks old. Lots of spotlight wash, shakiness, wandering cam, frequent zooming in and out, a head or two fairly consistently in the shot. All that said, the audio is beautiful. Jenn’s voice is so lovely and pure but also really strong and acting-wise she’s really fun. You can see where Megan Hilty got a lot of her mannerisms. Kristy is good vocally, awesome DG, and very good acting-wise. Slaps in catfight are amazing. Curtain call blacked out. (VOB)
January 9, 2005: Shoshana Bean (Elphaba), Jennifer Laura Thompson (Glinda), Joey Mcintyre (Fiyero), Carole Shelley (Morrible), George Hearn (Wizard) Michelle Federer (Nessarose), Robb Sapp (u/s Boq). Everyone is really great throughout. "Popular" muck-up -- flower doesn't pin to Sho's hair. Thank Goodness is blacked out until after Glinda and Fiyero start arguing. Joey and Idina's last -- Idina walks onto the stage in the infamous red track suit. Speeches for Joey and Idina by Jennifer and the director, respectively. Decent capture. Unfocused often times and pretty shaky throughout; clears up some in act 2. (mp4/VOB)
August 17, 2005: Shoshana Bean (Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), David Ayers (Fiyero), Ben Vereen (Wizard), Adinah Alexander (u/s Morrible), Megan Sikora (u/s Nessarose), Jeffrey Kuhn (Boq). Shoshana is awesome in this. Amazing DG. Megan is wonderful as well. She does optional high E in NOMTW. And her and Sho have a wonderful chemistry. Great for its time, spotlight washout on wide/medium shots, closeups are nice. Occasional blackouts (multiple through the beginning of act 1). Darker background on occasion. (Single file VOB)
January 8, 2006: Shoshana Bean (Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), David Ayers (Fiyero), Rue McLanahan (Morrible), Ben Vereen (Wizard), Michelle Federer (Nessarose), Robb Sapp (Boq). Shoshana, David, Rue and Michelle's last show. Megan does optional high E in NOMTW. Excellent performances all around. Sweet moments throughout because of Sho's last show, especially with the Wizard. Megan gives Sho pink panties during Popular. Great DG. Incredibly emotional "For Good." Tearful goodbye speech by Megan. Okay quality. Audio is great. Some spotlight washout and blackouts throughout. Extended blackout during classroom scene. Wandering cam during Popular. Shaky quite often, due to adjusting and I assume blind filming. (mp4)
March 29, 2006: Saycon Sengbloh (s/b Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), Carol Kane (Morrible), Ben Vereen (Wizard), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose) Rob Sapp (Boq). Saycon is wonderful. She delivers everything with a little bit of sass, which I love. She is one of the most powerful Elphaba’s ever vocally, her vibrato is incredible. Megan is brilliant as usual; she does high note in NOMTW. Great quality for its time. Shot from what seems like the left balcony, as there is a bar obstruction on occasion. Spotlight washout on wides. Blackouts for applause. Some good closeups. Darker background at times. (VOB)
May 28, 2006: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), David Garrison (Wizard), Carol Kane (Morrible), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Robb Sapp (Boq). Megan's last on broadway. Great performances by everyone. Megan and Eden are absolute magic together. And both are vocally remarkable. Megan does high note in NOMTW. Her Thank Goodness is emotional and beautiful. Tearful ending and goodbye speech by Eden. Well filmed, great quality for it's time. Minor blackouts, little shakiness. Short jump right before For Good starts. Overall a great video to have. (mp4)
July 29, 2006: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Kate Reinders (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), David Garrison (Wizard), Gaelen Gilliland (u/s Morrible), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Eden is just great. DG is wonderful. She riffs a LOT in this version. Kate is probably the most insane Glinda I've ever seen, but it's mostly humorous so it's okay. And vocally she's one of the best. View is completely obstructed through the beginning of NOMTW up until "Why does wickedness happen?" Missing Ozdust ballroom - Galinda gives Elphaba the hat then it skips to the girls' bedroom scene. Thank Goodness is very unfocused, shaky and full of blackouts. Overall, some nice closeups. Blackouts throughout. Some head obstruction on the sides of the screen on wides. Spotlight washout throughout but it's not too distracting. (mp4)
September 23, 2006: Saycon Sengbloh (s/b Elphaba), Kate Reinders (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), David Garrison (Wizard), Carol Kane (Glinda), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Kate is hilarious. Quirky, silly and crazy. And vocally she’s beautiful. Saycon is solid acting-wise, and a vocally she’s a powerhouse. Awesome DG, she does the optional high ending in ALAYM, and really riffy NGD. Some spotlight wash and darker background. Some blackouts and shakiness at the beginning of each act for adjusting. (VOB)
October 8, 2006: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Kate Reinders (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), Carol Kane (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Eden's last on Broadway. And she performs marvelously (very Eden focused filming). DG is probably one of her best. Kate is crazy and wonderful as always. Tearful "For Good." Curtain call is blacked out, but clears up for sweet goodbye speech by Derrick. Decent quality. Sometimes shaky/unfocused. Spotlight washout throughout. (VOB)
January 20, 2007: Julia Murney, Katie Adams (s/b Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), David Garrison (Wizard), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Not a huge fan of Katie, her Popular is pretty funny though. And this is a quality capture of early Julia. She and Katie actually have a nice chemistry. A few blackouts (extended ones during Sharing Secrets and Thank Goodness), very little shakiness or washout. Good video. (mp4)
February 9, 2007: Julia Murney (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Julia is a joy to watch. One of my favorite Elphabas acting-wise. Kendra is funny, but this isn't her best performance. Decent quality. Shakiness here and there; some blackouts for applause in general and through the beginning of Thank Goodness, as well as towards the end. (mp4)
May 22, 2007: Julia Murney (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Another great Julia/Kendra capture. Kendra is such a cute Glinda, Popular is great and Thank Goodness is just lovely. Vocally, one of Julia’s best, and acting-wise she’s always amazing. Her and Sebastian have a great chemistry as well, in basically every show with them together. Overall great shot. Good colors, some spotlight washout on wides, but it’s not too distracting. Appropriate/nice closeups and wides. No curtain call. (VOB)
July 1, 2007: Lisa Brescia (s/b Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Lisa does a solid job overall. Though her belt isn’t as strong as some, INTG was especially beautiful. And Kendra is adorable and great as always. Appearance by Tiffany Haas as one of Galinda’s friends. Some blackouts at the beginning of both acts, and for applause. Some spotlight washout. Darker background overall, but performers are always visible. Shakiness on occasion. (mp4/VOB)
July 2, 2007: Caissie Levy (u/s Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Caissie’s first on Broadway. And she does a great job. I like her portrayal of Elphaba a lot and vocally she’s quite solid. She has some nice riffs as well. Kendra is an adorable Glinda as always. Minor spotlight washout on wides. Darker background but performers still very visible. Occasional blackouts (beginning of Act 2). Overall great video. (mp4/VOB)
July 3, 2007: Caissie Levy (u/s Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Caissie’s second on Broadway. And she’s great. Acting-wise she’s good and vocally even better. She has some really lovely and clean riffs. Her INTG is so beautiful. She has a few lyric flubs in NGD. Kendra is her normally wonderful self. Bubbly, adorable and fun as well as vocally strong. Blackouts throughout (extended during Something Bad into Fiyero’s entrance). Spotlight wash on occasion. Shakiness here and there. The VOBs seem to have a playing issue; not sure how this would translate to a DVD but I am able to make one if requested. I converted them to mp4s and had less issues, although the catfight scene repeats about 3-4 times before it moves on to NGD. (physical DVD/VOB/mp4).
October 7, 2007: Julia Murney (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Kathy Santen (u/s Morrible), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Julia and Kendra's last together. Julia is a bit tired vocally but her acting is positively better than ever. And Kendra is just hilarious and adorable as a whole. Popular is really funny, one of my favorite ever. Emotional Thank Goodness and very emotional For Good. They have a great chemistry. Great quality overall. Well filmed with a nice mix of shots. Background a bit dark at times. Act 2 is blacked out until Morrible starts talking. Some blackouts for applause. Includes Sebastian's farewell speech. (VOB)
October 9, 2007: Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba), Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), Kathy Santen (u/s Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Stephanie and Annaleigh's first. Great show. Stephanie is just lovely and Annaleigh holds her own as well. Popular is very funny. I love the chemistry that Stephanie and Sebastian have especially. ALAYM is soooo amazing to watch. I have 2 versions of this: 1 in HQ with slight hiccups here and there and missing Elphaba's birth, and one that's regular quality with no jumps, both mp4. Both are very watchable, darker background at times, minor blackouts and shakiness here and there.
October 24, 2007 (Highlights): Caissie Levy (u/s Elphaba), Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda), Miriam Margolyes (? Morrible), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Highlights include: Room Assignments, TWAI, WITF, Poppy Field, INTG, DG, NGD and For Good. Decent highlights video, I only missed Annaleigh’s popular. I love Caissie, while I think her belt is not as strong, when she’s not belting she sounds lovely; she has a lot of little interesting riffs. Not enough of Annaleigh to really judge her performance. Some spotlight washout. But overall well shot with a nice mix of wides and mediums. (VOB)
March 13, 2008: Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba), Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda), David Burnham (Fiyero), Miriam Margolyes (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Stephanie is positively wonderful. She has one of the best portrayals of Elphaba ever. And vocally she's a powerhouse. Strong, clear, and beautiful vocals consistently. And some of the things she does in One Short Day are so funny. Annaleigh is good as well. A bit of a muck-up during Popular when Annaleigh realizes she doesn't have the flower in her hair. Act 2 starts just after Glinda's entrance. Some minor blackouts for applause (a few during Thank Goodness). Darker background at times. Audience head obstruction on occasion. Somewhat shaky throughout. Cuts off after "...Glinda the Good." Otherwise good capture. (VOB)
May 8, 2008: Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba), Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda), David Burnham (Fiyero), Miriam Margoyles (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). I. Love. Stephanie. J. Block. This show is a little shaky to watch but you can still see how amazing she is, both vocally and acting-wise, all the way through. She’s one of the best to ever play Elphaba and she does not disappoint in this show. Awesome NGD. Annaleigh is really funny, in Popular especially so, though not up to the same caliber vocally as SJB. Thank Goodness is lovely though, and they have a nice chemistry together. Short blackout which leads to a jump during NOMTW. Somewhat distracting spotlight washout throughout. Obstruction near the bottom and sides of screen on occasion. Shakiness, blackouts, and unfocused cam throughout. No curtain call. Overall decent. (VOB)
May 14, 2008: Lisa Brescia (s/b Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), David Burnham (Fiyero), Miriam Margolyes (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Vocally this isn’t Kendra’s or Lisa’s strongest performance. Both of them are great acting-wise however. Kendra is just adorable as Galinda, as always. Fantastic Popular. And Lisa’s INTG is quite lovely. David is very good in this show as well (besides a lyric flub in DTL). Something weird happened with the audio in WITF. Great shot, little shakiness, occasional blackouts (more so in Act 2 than Act 1), minor spotlight washout on wides, nice colors, appropriate closeups and wides. Mostly blacked out curtain call. (VOB)
June 15, 2008: Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), David Burnham (Fiyero), Kathy Santen (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Stephanie's last show EVER. SJB is one of my favorite Elphabas overall and she gives an absolutely WONDERFUL final performance, vocally and acting-wise. Even through tears at the end her voice is strong. Amazing to see her growth. She and Kendra have marvelous chemistry. Really good quality video, some shakiness on occasion, and blackouts due to applause. Good closeups and wides. (mp4/VOB)
June 17, 2008: Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), David Burnham (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Kerry’s first on Broadway. Overall good quality, but what bugs me the most about this show is the INTENSE close-ups. Some people like that, but I think it takes away from the whole of the show when the camera is completely focused on one actor. Still, I suppose I can't complain, and Kerry does a great job both vocally and acting-wise. Kendra is funny as well. (Searching for replacement links!)
August 5, 2008: Kerry Ellis (Elphaba) Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Aaron Tveit (Fiyero), Jane Houdyshell (Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Kerry is very good here. Accent is solid and performance and vocals are great. Amazing NGD. Kendra is such a cute Glinda. Overall great performances. Pretty shaky throughout. Some intense, but nice closeups; overall nice colors against darker background. (VOB)
October 31, 2008: Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Aaron Tveit (Fiyero), Jane Houdyshell (Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Cool moment during One Short Day where it looks like Kendra is waving at the camera. Overall, Kerry seems pretty unenthused this entire performance. Vocally though, both she and Kendra are very good. And Aaron is wonderful. Act 1 starts at, "Because there has been so much rumor..." during NOMTW. Blackouts and very shaky throughout. Some spotlight washout. (mov/VOB)
November 11, 2008: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Kevin Kern (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Brynn O'Malley (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Earliest capture of Marcie on Broadway and the first video of Alli as Glinda. It’s nice to see where they started as principals. Marcie’s Elphaba is amazing. She plays her more nuanced and interesting than any others in my opinion. Alli’s Galinda is slightly less quirky and has more grandeur than in later captures. Both of them are great vocally. For a 2008 capture it looks much older. Darker background at times. Some spotlight wash. Blackouts, wondering cam and shakiness. A bit of audience obstruction at times. No Popular (jumps from “that’s not the secret” to midway through the Lion Cub scene). Act 2 starts at “…And celebrate!” There seems to be a bit of a playing error in VTS 2_1, but it's possible that it's just my copy. (VOB)
January 2, 2009: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Kevin Kern (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Brynn O'Malley (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Nice widescreen capture of Marcie towards the end of her (too short) Broadway run and one of the earliest known captures of Alli’s Popular. Overall great show. Marcie is wonderful acting-wise, as usual and very strong vocally. Great NGD, I think in general that’s Marcie’s best song. Alli is really wonderful as well. Vocally lovely, and while she’s less quirky and silly than in later captures, she’s still a very fun Galinda. Beginning of both acts blacked out. Blackouts for applause thereafter (one extended from Wizard’s ball through Wonderful). Slight audience head obstruction. Some shakiness which causes cam to do micro-adjustments. (VOB)
January 11, 2009: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Kevin Kern (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Brynn O'Malley (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Marcie’s last on Broadway. And it is a wonderful show. Marcie is one of my favorites acting-wise, tied with Julia Murney. And vocally she’s strong & clean, her NGD is one of her best. Alli is soo hilarious & vocally just as stunning as she always is. Popular is really funny & sweet. A bit of a blooper: at the end of WITF, Alli’s notebook gets thrown to the ground. This leads to Marcie having to pick it up & give it back to her, even though she was just mocking her. Emotional For Good & Finale. No speeches, but don’t skip the curtain call. Spotlight washout on wides. Shaky & wandering cam at times. Blackouts for applause. (VOB)
January 13, 2009: Julie Reiber (s/b Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Kevin Kern (Fiyero), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), Brynn O'Malley (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Julie is solid overall, good acting-wise, although not all that exciting, and vocally she has some nice little riffs. She does not, however, have any chemistry with Kevin. Alli is adorable and hilarious as Glinda and vocally lovely, as usual. Occasionally, you can hear the master reacting to the show. Shakiness and wandering throughout. Spotlight wash on wides. Act 2 starts partway into Thank Goodness. (VOB)
February 22, 2009: Nicole Parker (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Kyle Dean Massey (u/s Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Nicole does a solid job throughout. Alli and Nicole have a nice chemistry. Alli plays up the quirky Galinda humor and Popular is very funny. Kyle is great here too, he was only an understudy at the time and he was fantastic all the way through. Alli does high note in NOMTW. Some short blackouts at the beginning of both acts. A bit of washout on wides. Otherwise great capture, steady (mostly), good colors, nice closeups, overall good quality. (DEAD LINK)
March 7, 2009: Nicole Parker (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Aaron Tveit (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), Anthony Galde (u/s Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Aaron's second-to-last performance. Alli is great as Glinda, as always. Vocally stunning and really funny. Popular is hysterical. Nicole is very good too; some of her facial expressions are hilarious. Anthony is the most entertaining Wizard I’ve seen since David Garrison. He’s really great. Alli does optional high E in NOMTW. Both acts begin blacked out until after Glinda’s entrance. Darker background overall. Shakiness throughout. Audience head obstruction on edge of screen on occasion. (DEAD LINK)
March 8, 2009: Nicole Parker (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Aaron Tveit (Fiyero), Jayne Houdyshell (Morrible), Anthony Galde (u/s Wizard), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Aaron’s last, and he really performs. Nice riffs, great acting. This show is similar to the previous two with Nicole and Alli, acting-wise and vocally. They’re both strong in their respective roles. Alli is one of my favorite Glindas and vocally one of the best. She does high E in NOMTW. Anthony is a really entertaining Wizard. Extended blackouts at the beginning of both acts and occasional throughout. From VOB 2-3 there is a jump; it skips from Poppy Field scene to part way through One Short Day. Shakiness on occasion. Minor spotlight washout. Darker background. (VOB)
September 27, 2009: Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Erin Mackey (Glinda), Kevin Kern (Fiyero), Rondi Reed (Morrible), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Michelle Federer (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Erin is vocally stunning and so cute. She does a slightly higher endnote in NOMTW (but not the high E) and her TG is just lovely. Dee is brilliant acting-wise vocally she’s strong, awesome NGD. Kev’s hair is short here which I think makes him look less silly. Some wandering cam & blackouts (some extended), especially at the beginning. But when steady, the picture is nice. Occasional spotlight wash on wides & some mediums. A few jumps: from halfway thru TWAI to classroom scene, skips Morrible’s part of Something Bad. (VOB)
April 9, 2010: Mandy Gonzalez (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Andy Karl (Fiyero), Rondi Reed (Morrible), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Jenny Fellner (Nessarose), Alex Brightman (Boq). Not a huge fan of Mandy, but Katie is my favorite Glinda hands down. Her Popular is always hysterical and this one follows suit. She's vocally one of the best and acting-wise probably the best. In this show she's especially stunning. Fairly steady shot. A little washout on wides. Few blackouts. Overall good capture. (VOB)
June 9, 2010 (Highlights): Jennifer DiNoia (s/b Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda). Highlights include: TWAI, DG, Catfight and NGD, Kiamo Ko and For Good. Mostly showcasing Jennifer during her Broadway run as s/b. She sounds amazing and has a strong belt with some nice riffs during DG and NGD. Katie’s great during Catfight. Crowd reaction to slaps is hilarious. Not great quality. Shot from orchestra so lots of spotlight washout, some heads and no zooms. (mp4)
July 26, 2012: Caroline Bowman (u/s Elphaba), Chandra Lee Schwartz (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Randy Danson (Morrible), Adam Grupper (Wizard), Jenny Fellner (Nessarose), Etai Benshlomo (Boq). For an understudy, Caroline is really great (though there are a few line flubs here and there). TWAI is very strong. Chandra is awesome as well. I love how she portrays Glinda, and Popular is super funny. Great Catfight scene. Nice quality video, though it gets a little pixilated at times. Spotlight washout on wides, a few black-outs (lasting ~one minute each), a bit of audience head on edge of screen on occasion. Overall steady cam, well filmed and great show. (VOB)
August 16, 2012: Jackie Burns (Elphaba), Chandra Lee Schwartz (Glinda), Kyle Dean Massey (Fiyero), Randy Danson (Morrible), Adam Grupper (Wizard), Jenny Fellner (Nessarose), Etai Benshlomo (Boq). NO FLY SHOW (which is funny, if you’ve seen the way Julia Murney describes it). Jackie and Chandra are a great pair. Jackie’s got a very distinct vocal tone and a strong belt. Chandra is good but her soprano seems a bit off in this show. Both of them are awesome acting-wise. Chandra’s hilarious and Jackie’s Elphaba is so interesting, a bit angst-y but also full of hope. Act 1 only. Mix of 2 shots, left side of the stage and (mostly) center, both from the orchestra so there’s a bit of an upward (sometimes slanted) angle. But it’s nice to see full stage action. Some heads but no main action is blocked. Spotlight washout, less so on the left shot. But it’s a very nice resolution with, I think, soundboard audio patched in. *Limited Trade* (mp4)
February 10, 2013: Donna Vivino (s/b Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Kyle Dean Massey (Fiyero), Randy Danson (Morrible), Adam Grupper (Wizard), Catherine Charlebois (Nessarose), F. Michael Haynie (Boq). Supposed to be Jackie Burn's last, but she was sick. But we get to see Queen Vivino work (haha). Donna is one of my favorite Elphabas overall. And she is vocally stunning in this. Amazing to see her growth as well. Defying Gravity and NGD are something to marvel at. And Donna and Alli are wonderful together. Alli is a hilarious Glinda; her Popular is hysterical. She does optional high note in NOMTW. Great filming, high quality, minor spotlight washout on wides, a bit shaky at times but it goes away. On occasion, some audience head obstruction at the bottom of the frame. (VOB)
March 24, 2013: Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Tiffany Haas (Glinda), Kyle Dean Massey (Fiyero), Adam Grupper (Wizard), Kathy Santen (Morrible), Catherine Charlebois (Nessrose), F. Michael Haynie (Boq). Not a great video but audio is nice and clear, so we can hear how purely, brilliantly flawless Willemijn is vocally. Incredible DG with her amazing “renown” riff. NGD is awesome. Tiffany is very good too. Really funny and vocally lovely. Shot from the right stalls. Audience head obstruction and major spotlight washout consistent throughout. No closeups. Blackouts on occasion. (mp4)
May 12, 2013: Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Adam Grupper (Wizard), Kyle Dean Massey (Fiyero), Kathy Santen (u/s Morrible), Catherine Charlebois (Nessarose), F. Michael Haynie (Boq). The only good and full recording of Willemijn Verkaik on Broadway. And she is absolutely flawless. Her vocals are unreal and she plays Elphaba so hilariously, like a huge dork, and I love it. Brilliant DG. Katie is just as funny and vocally stunning. Blackout during the beginning of Something Bad and during part of DTL. No curtain call. But otherwise, incredibly well filmed; high quality, little shakiness. (VOB)
June 25, 2014 *TotheEmeraldCity’s master*: Christine Dwyer (Elphaba), Jenni Barber (Glinda), Justin Guarini (Fiyero), Mary Testa (Morrible), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Kelli Barrett (Nessarose), Michael Wartella (Boq). First video (that I know of) to come out of Christine’s Broadway run. Shot from the right stalls, so lots of spotlight wash and shakiness. But audio is beautiful, so you can hear how gorgeous Christine’s vocals are. And Jenni is hilarious. We only get her comedy for 1 scene but it’s really great. Her Galinda is very unique. (Edited) Master’s notes: Highlights include: TWAI, Train Station Scene, OSD, DG, and For Good. About 26 minutes of highlights but 2-3 min of both DG and FG are blackouts so more like 20ish minutes of decent highlights. (mp4)
August 21, 2014: Christine Dwyer (Elphaba), Jenni Barber (Glinda), Justin Guarini (Fiyero), Mary Testa (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Kelli Barrett (Nessarose), Michael Wartella (Boq). Christine is a powerhouse. Vocally incredible and acting-wise just a good. Jenni is interesting. Vocally she’s great. But often she just seems over exaggerated and slightly too spastic for my tastes. Justin is wonderful. He gives Fiyero a bit of awkwardness after connecting with Elphaba and that’s so unique. Both acts start a bit late. Good quality cam, with very large picture and nice colors. Spotlight wash, frequent wandering cam and occasional head obstruction. There’s a choreography change in OSD. (mp4/MTS) *Limited Trade*
Chicago
July 1, 2005: Ana Gasteyer (Elphaba), Kate Reinders (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), Rondi Reed (Morrible), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Telly Leung (Boq). Ana does a decent job. Not the best vocally but her acting has it's moments. Kate is good and funny; I really love her "Thank Goodness". Beginning is mostly blacked out or unfocused, but clears up soon after. Act 2 begins blacked out, clears up soon after Glinda's entrance. Alright quality, a couple jump cuts (DTL and catfight scene into NGD). Pretty shaky throughout. Very little spotlight washout. Minor blackouts for applause. If you like Ana, though, this is a good one to have. (mp4)
May 14, 2006 Dead Link: Kristy Cates (Elphaba), Stacie Morgan Lewis (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero) Carole Shelly (Morrible), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Telly Leung (Boq). Stacie is hilarious as Glinda. So over the top but in the best way. Popular is hysterical. Kristy is great as well. Strong vocally and amazing acting-wise. Shaky and wandering cam at times that cause blackouts. Blackouts throughout for applause and at beginning of both acts. Darker background at times. Occasionally a little spotlight washout. Audience head obstruction on occasion (VOB; cuts off at the end at “Fellow Ozians”).
October 22, 2006: Kristy Cates (Elphaba), Stacie Morgan Lewis (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), Rondi Reed (Morrible), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Jacqui Graziano (u/s Nessa), Adam Fleming (Boq). Stacie’s last performance. And she’s wonderful. Emotional Thank Goodness. Her and Kristy have a nice chemistry. Kristy is great in this as well. DG is awesome. Tearful For Good. A few extended blackouts (1-2 mins) and some for applause. Some form of audience head obstruction throughout. Darker background. Shaky throughout. Shaky/obstructed curtain call but clears up for sweet farewell speech by Kristy (though it cuts off the end). Overall, watchable quality. (mp4/VOB)
December 13, 2006: Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Megan Sikora (u/s Glinda), Brad Bass (Fiyero), Rondi Reed (Morrible), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Adam Fleming (Boq). Dee and Megan are great together. Great chemistry considering Megan's only an understudy. Blooper! When Megan throws the wand during Popular, it rolls back so she has to throw it again and Dee can't stop laughing. Very strong DG. Dee holds her final note forever. It's really amazing. No curtain call. Quieter audio. Good filming, minor blackouts. Dimmer colors (generation loss), sometimes darker background but performers are always visible. (mp4/VOB)
January 10, 2007: Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Erin Mackey (Glinda), Brad Bass (Fiyero), Gene Weydandt (Wizard), Rondi Reed (Morrible), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Adam Fleming (Boq). Dee has a very distinct voice, and vocally she’s pretty strong. Erin is adorable as Galinda. Really cute Popular. And her soprano is just lovely. Both her and Dee are very good acting-wise & they have a nice chemistry. I really like Brad Bass. His voice reminds me a bit of Oli Tompsett, and he’s just so smooth. It’s fun to watch Erin be a bit awkward around him. And then their progression together is awesome. TG is a great scene for both of them. Dark/bluish background, but performers are always visible. A little spotlight washout and head obstruction at times. Blackouts for applause (a few random ones throughout the end of act 1). (VOB)
February 2, 2007: Carmen Cusack (s/b Elphaba), Erin Mackey (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Rondi Reed (Morrible), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Adam Fleming (Boq). It’s so fun to watch early Carmen. She’s superb. Her emotion in the bedroom scene is wonderful to watch. And DG is awesome. She has some amazing riffs throughout. Her and Erin have a really nice chemistry. Emotional For Good. Erin is vocally lovely. Popular is really funny. ALAYM is amazing. Act 2 starts a bit late. Some blackouts and audience obstruction throughout. Spotlight washout on wides. Darker background overall. Some shakiness. No curtain call. (VOB/mp4)
June 15, 2007: Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Kate Fahrner (u/s Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), Barbara Robertson (Morrible), Peter Kevoian (Wizard), Summer Naomi Smart (Nessarose), Stanton Nash (Boq). Nice capture of Kate a little earlier in her Wicked career. Her Glinda is just darling, so funny and she brings a lot of nuances to the character; vocally she’s really lovely. Dee is great too. Her vocals are strong and acting-wise she’s wonderful. INTG is heartbreaking. DG is amazing. And NGD is incredible, purely because she brings an emotional side to it that I’ve never seen from anyone else. Very person focused filming, i.e. generally only focused on one actor. Blooper! Dee has a lyric flub during “I hope you’re happy!” and Kate nearly breaks character giggling. Dark background. Some shakiness. Sometimes blackouts for applause. Some audience obstruction on right side of screen. Overall nice video. (VOB)
April 27, 2008: Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Kate Fahrner (transition Glinda), Michael Seelbach (Fiyero), Barbara Robertson (Morrible), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Kevin Samual Yee (u/s Boq). Kate is amazing. Her Glinda is similar to KRC’s in that, she captures the real nuances and growth of the character. And vocally she’s very good. Thank Goodness broke my heart. Dee is quite good as well, solid vocals all the way through and she acts the part better than most. Her and Kate are great together. Great capture, with lots of nice close-ups. Short blackouts for applause. Some shakiness and darker background at times. Minor spotlight washout on wides (VOB-ISO form, physical DVD).
June 1, 2008: Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Kate Fahrner (transition Glinda), Michael Seelbach (Fiyero), Barbara Robertson (Morrible), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Stanton Nash (Boq). Dee (for a while), Kate and Michael’s last in Chicago. And they’re all great. Kate is brilliant. She has a beautiful, clear soprano and a surprisingly strong belt. Acting-wise she’s also great, funny and so cute. Popular is adorable and quirky. Dee is great as always, strong vocals and wonderful acting-wise, especially in NGD. Michael is amazing. Brilliant both acting-wise and vocally especially during ALAYM. Really sweet and emotional For Good. Frequent reaction noises and talking from the master and companion during Act 1. It’s a bit annoying to be honest, but he calms down in Act 2. Some spotlight wash when zoomed out, and some shakiness at times. Occasional blackouts. But overall, beautiful picture with nice close-ups. (VOB)
July 19, 2008: Vicki Noon (u/s Elphaba), Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), Rondi Reed (Morrible), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Stanton Nash (Boq). Vicki’s first as Elphaba. And she’s good. Her voice has such a lovely tone quality, especially when she’s not belting. She has a few minor line flubs in the 2nd act but nothing terribly noticeable. Annaleigh is a quirky Galinda. Sometimes it’s a bit much for me. But she’s solid all the way through. Catfight is a bit of a blooper scene! Vicki stumbles (I assume over her dress) at the start and she and Annaleigh both have a few line flubs. Blackouts on occasion (one extended during TG). Sometimes shaky and blurry for adjustments. Some spotlight wash. Possibly missing VTS_1_5 as it cuts out towards the end of finale. (VOB)
(mp4/VOB)

1st National Tour
April 23, 2005: Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), David Garrison (Wizard), Carol Kane (Morrible), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Probably the best capture of early SJB and Kendra. I love this cast. SJB is so good at what she does; she is Elphaba. She’s so vocally strong, and acting-wise she’s amazing. INTG is heartbreaking. Amazing NGD. Kendra is great all around too. Especially to vocally be an alto, her soprano is pretty solid. Lots of spotlight washout, occasional short blackouts, wandering/shaky cam. But it’s shot from the balcony so there are very few obstructions. Good audio. (VOB) *Rare*
May 8, 2005: Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), David Garrison (Wizard), Carol Kane (Morrible), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq). Okay capture of early Stephanie and Kendra. Amazing to watch and see kind of where they started and how they progressed. Kendra’s Glinda is very different from later captures. SJB plays Elphaba a bit different here as well. Her and Kendra are so great together. WITF is hysterical. Some spotlight washout on wides. Darker background. Lengthy blackouts, audience head obstruction, shaky and wandering cam throughout. Act 2 slightly better. (VOB) *Rare*
May 23, 2006: Julia Murney (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Kyle McDaniel (u/s Fiyero), Alma Cuervo (Morrible), Jennifer Waldman (Nessarose), Kirk McDonald (Boq). A great capture of early Julia and Kendra. Even starting out in the roll, Julia captured Elphaba brilliantly. Kendra has a bit of a line flub during Popular that's pretty funny. Kyle does a solid job to just be an u/s. Act 2 starts at Glinda's entrance. Shot on a slight upward angle so sometimes there is audience head obstruction along bottom and right of screen. Darker background overall but performers are still very visible. (mov)
May, 2006: Victoria Matlock (s/b Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Nicolas Dromard (u/s Fiyero), Alma Cuervo (Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (Wizard), Jennifer Waldman (Nessarose), Kirk McDonald (Boq). Vocally and acting-wise everyone is solid. Victoria can really hold a note. Kendra seems extra bubbly in this version. Popular is very fun. It’s nice to kind of see Nic in his u/s days. He has a nice chemistry with Victoria. Really great catfight. Full stage, pro-shot from back of the house with soundboard audio patched in. No zooms, but it’s awesome to see all of the wonderful staging and lights and that go into the show. And it’s great to hear pretty much every part of the orchestra. Some spotlight washout. *Limited Trade* (VOB)
May 28, 2006: Victoria Matlock (s/b Elphaba), Annaleigh Ashford (u/s Glinda), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), P.J. Benjamin (Wizard), Alma Cuervo (Morrible), Jennifer Waldman (Nessarose), Kirk McDonald (Boq). Victoria’s breath control is amazing. She’s not the cleanest with her belt (although she does sustain the high F in DG :O ) but she holds notes forever & it’s so impressive. Acting-wise she’s very good; ‘toss toss’ at the top of the second classroom scene is hysterical. Annaleigh is a cute Galinda, although vocally not as clean. Popular is very funny. Crowd has a great energy. End of TG cut off. Generational loss evident. Lots of spotlight washout when not zoomed, darker background, a few heads, shaky, a few blackouts. But still, it’s nice to see this pairing early in their Wicked careers. No curtain call. (originally .wmv, but converted to VOB)
March 4, 2007: Victoria Matlock (Elphaba), Christina DeCicco (Glinda), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Barbara Tirrell (Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (Wizard), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Josh Lamon (Boq). Christina is overall vocally stunning, and acting-wise she's wonderful. Victoria's portrayal of Elphaba is very unique. They both are very funny and have a nice chemistry together. I find their height difference especially amusing at times. Popular is great. Thank Goodness is an awesome scene, especially for Cliffton. Christina does optional high E in NOMTW. Nice colors against a darker background. No spotlight washout. Minor blackouts for applause and at the beginning of Act 2. Shaky on occasion. Overall good shot. (VOB)
March 6, 2007: Victoria Matlock (Elphaba), Christina DeCicco (Glinda), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Barbara Tirrell (Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (Wizard), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Josh Lamon (Boq). Victoria continues to amaze with her extensive breath control, and is great acting-wise. Christina is hilarious and vocally amazing in this. She’s an incredibly underrated Glinda. Her and Victoria are great together. Weird moment: No applause after INTG. Darker background. Very minor audience obstruction. No spotlight washout. Short blackouts for applause. (mp4, *seeking VOB links*)
July 7, 2007: Coleen Sexton (u/s Elphaba), Laura Woyasz (u/s Glinda), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), PJ Benjamin (Wizard), Barbara Tirrell (Morrible), DeeDee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Brad Weinstock (Boq). I love u/s shows. Coleen reminds me of Julia Murney in a lot of ways. Acting-wise she’s amazing, she gives Elphaba a dry humor, but pulls the deeper emotions out of her as the show progresses, which is interesting to watch. Vocally she’s very strong, awesome NGD. Laura is really great too, vocally lovely and she does a lot of little things that make her portrayal of G(a)linda unique. Popular is hilarious, especially ‘toss, toss’. Her and Coleen have a nice chemistry. Darker background. Blackouts for applause. Shaky at times. Shot between heads so some head obstruction on edges of screen, more noticeable in Act 2. Curtain call included but blacked out. (VOB)
July 8, 2007: Marcie Dodd (u/s Elphaba), Christeena Michelle Riggs (u/s Glinda), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Barbara Tirrell (Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (Wizard), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Brad Weinstock (Boq). It’s fun to watch early Marcie do Elphaba. She does solid job vocally and great job acting-wise throughout. Awesome NGD. Christeena is great as well. She does optional high note in NOMTW. I really love u/s shows. Some spotlight washout on wides, darker background overall but performers are still visible. Some audience head obstruction on edge of screen at times. Act 2 blacked out until Glinda’s entrance. Blackouts on occasion (extended starting partway through Thank Goodness and cont. into beginning WWOTE). Curtain call is included, but mostly blacked out. (mp4/VOB)
July 29, 2007: Victoria Matlock (Elphaba), Christina DeCicco (Glinda), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Barbara Tirrell (Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (Wizard), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Brad Weinstock (Boq). I think Christina does the optional high E in NOMTW. Overall she’s wonderful and vocally stunning. She’s one of my favorite Glindas and completely underrated. Her TG is really lovely, and a bit emotional. Victoria is solid all the way through, and my god can she hold a note! Her final note in DG went on forever, it’s really amazing. Good NGD too. Spotlight washout throughout. Occasional blackouts. Some shakiness at times. Flying section in DG a bit obstructed by the dragon. A little audience head in bottom left corner. (VOB)
December 12, 2007: Carmen Cusack (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Brad Weinstock (Boq). Carmen gives a strong performance throughout; her DG is wonderful. Katie is hilarious and brilliant, as usual. Starts Act 2 a bit late and blacked out but clears up pretty quickly. Good quality overall, nice close ups. Something was going weird with the audio in the theater, as on occasion someone’s mic would cut out and then cut back in. (VOB)
June 8, 2008: Donna Vivino (s/b Elphaba), Meggie Cansler (u/s Glinda), Cliffton Hall, (Fiyero) Alma Cuervo (Morrible), Lee Wilkof (Wizard), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), David Hull as (u/s Boq). Great show. Meggie is wonderful to watch. I'm amazed she's only an understudy. She brings something entirely new to Glinda. Her Popular is great and her Thank Goodness is especially beautiful. And Donna is fantastic. She sounds absolutely gorgeous. Good quality video. Blackouts and a little shakiness for applause and adjusting. Slight jump when Galinda is talking to Boq during DTL. Act 2 starts late, just before Glinda's entrance. Slight head obstruction towards the bottom of the screen during WWOTE but overall a great video to have! (VOB)
November 2, 2008: Carmen Cusack (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Brad Weinstock (Boq). Carmen's last show. And it’s wonderful to see her growth as she made the character her own. Carmen and Katie are so great together. Katie is vocally beautiful and absolutely hilarious, though I think she’s playing it up a lot since it’s Carmen’s last show. Lots of fun adlibs. Popular is hysterical and also really really sweet. Emotional DG and Thank Goodness. Actually, lots of tears throughout. Great Catfight and NGD. Short blackouts at the beginning of both acts, and throughout for applause. Some spotlight washout on wides. Audience head obstruction on occasion. But great audio, nice closeups and overall steady shot. Great show and great video to have. (VOB)
January 18, 2009: Donna Vivino (Elphaba), Melissa Bohon (u/s, Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Amanda Rose (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Melissa really fun. Her Galinda is quirky and silly and then matures so beautifully. Popular is so funny. Her TG is lovely, especially acting-wise. And vocally she’s solid. Donna is wonderful as Elphie of course, vocally so powerful. Shaky and wandering cam with lots of microadjustments causing a grainy quality. Spotlight washout at times. Blackouts at times (extended during Wonderful). Some audience obstruction. Ends after ALAYM. (VOB)
February 26, 2009: Merideth Kaye Clark (s/b Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Amanda Rose (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Katie is wonderful as usual. Merideth isn't really one of my favorites but she holds her own throughout. Blooper: during NGD there’s a fire alarm. Meredith sings halfway through the song even though there are flashing lights, the alarm is sounding and people are panicking. An announcement is made and she walks off stage in character. After the evacuation, the show resumes where it left off. Some blackouts throughout. Spotlight washout on wide shots (which are frequent). Some shakiness, audience head obstruction. (VOB)
February 28, 2009: Stephanie Torns (u/s Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Amanda Rose (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Stephanie is great. I love the tone of her voice. And acting-wise she’s very good. KRC is everything I always love about her, hilarious and vocally stunning, while still bringing a depth and growth to the character that many actresses in the part don't quite capture. Spotlight washout on wides. Blackouts for applause. Nice quality and pretty well filmed (though there are some…odd closeups in DTL). Wandering cam at times.(VOB)
April 14, 2009 Dead Link: Donna Vivino (Elphaba), Stefanie Brown (u/s Glinda), Bryan West (u/s Fiyero), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard). Not a great video. But the audio is great. So you can see how vocally brilliant Queen Vivino is. Amazing riffs throughout. Wonderful TWAI and NGD. Stefanie is really great too, funny and vocally lovely. Really passionate ALAYM. Donna and Bryan have a great chemistry. No real zooms. Spotlight washout and audience head obstruction consistent throughout. You can hear a child talking occasionally. Adjustment sounds at times. Act 2 starts at, “We’ll talk about that later” and is blacked out until partway through WWOTE scene. No curtain call. (VOB)
August 2, 2009: Merideth Kaye Clark (s/b Elphaba), Stefanie Brown (u/s Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Amanda Rose (Nessa), Ben Liebert (Boq). Stefanie’s soprano is so lovely. Acting-wise she’s great, really fun. Her Popular is hilarious. Some of her choices are reminiscent of KRC, which she was u/s for at this time on tour. Merideth is solid overall, she’s got a nice controlled belt. I generally like the tone quality of her voice when she’s not belting though. Her INTG is really beautiful. She and Stef have a nice chemistry. Great catfight, NGD, and For Good scene (especially from Mer, who is generally not exciting). Nice mix of shots. Lighting blooper! The lights are on upstage when Merideth is getting into the DG lift. Occasional wandering/shaky cam. A bit of spotlight wash on wides. Blackouts for applause. No curtain call. (VOB)
August 16, 2009: Donna Vivino (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Amanda Rose (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Katie's last on tour (for a while), so it’s a pretty emotional show. Still though, Katie is positively lovely, vocally stunning and ridiculously funny. Popular is hilarious. Donna is wonderful as per her style, NGD is probably one of her best, and her and Katie have a great chemistry. Really emotional For Good. Audience head obstruction throughout. Shaky cam at times which causes the focus to do micro-adjustments to the sharpness, darker background overall, but very little spotlight washout. Blackouts on occasion (extended during WITF, the Wizard’s letter, WWOTE). (VOB)
August 20, 2009: Merideth Kaye Clark (s/b Elphaba), Stefanie Brown (u/s Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Amanda Rose (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Merideth is solid (although not all that exciting) all around; she and Richard have a nice chemistry. But I like this show because you can really see how wonderful Stefanie is. She’s vocally stunning; she has such a strong soprano, and she’s so funny. Popular is hilarious. Blooper! Wheelchair magic doesn’t work. Dragon blocks end of flying portion in DG. Catfight and NGD are awesome. Definitely Merideth’s best scenes. Act 1 blacked out until a bit after Glinda’s entrance. Some blackouts during applause into beginnings of scenes in act 1. Darker background. Slight audience head obstruction on occasion. Some wandering and very shaky cam throughout. Curtain call included but mostly obstructed. (VOB)
September 3, 2009: Donna Vivino (Elphaba), Chandra Lee Schwartz (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (Wizard), Amanda Rose (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq). Donna and Chandra do a great job. Vocally and acting-wise they’re both wonderful. Multiple blackouts throughout. Audience head obstruction on the sides/bottom throughout. Shaky cam at times, which causes the focus to do micro-adjustments to the sharpness. Darker background overall but no spotlight washout. No curtain call. (VOB)
August 28, 2010: Jackie Burns (Elphaba), Chandra Lee Schwartz (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Randy Danson (Morrible), Richard Kline (Wizard), Michelle London (Nessarose), Justin Brill (Boq). Jackie is great. I like the way she plays on Elphaba’s short temper at the beginning but then you can see her love for Glinda grow throughout. And vocally she’s very good; she has a nice, strong belt. Chandra is hilarious and vocally lovely. Spotlight washout on wides. Really nice lion cub scene. Michelle London is GREAT in WWOTE. Occasional blackouts (quite a few during TG). Audience head obstruction cradling bottom of screen throughout, not as bad on closeups. There’s a guy who you can occasionally hear reacting to the show, but it’s really funny so it’s okay. No curtain call. Overall decent shot. (VOB)
August 29, 2010 (Highlights): Carla Stickler (u/s Elphaba), Chandra Lee Schwartz (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Barbara Robertson (Morrible), Richard Kline (Wizard), Michelle London (Nessarose), Justin Brill (Boq). Extended highlights include: NOMTW–TWAI, Fiyero’s entrance, Elphaba’s Dance, Sharing Secrets and Popular, Poppy Fields–OSD, DG, end of WWOTE, Wonderful, ALAYM–NGD, Kiamo Ko, For Good and Finale. Nice, high-res, widescreen highlights vid of u/s Carla. And she’s great, solid all around. Awesome NGD. Bloopers! Carla has a bit of a line flub during the train station scene; her hat falls off after the quick change in OSD. Chandra is also wonderful, vocally lovely, and quirky and fun as Galinda. Her popular is really funny. I missed her TG as it’s always beautiful. Spotlight washout on wides. A few heads when completely zoomed out. Blackouts for switching scenes, and during DOS. (VOB)
December 18, 2010 (matinee): Carla Stickler (u/s Elphaba), Chandra Lee Schwartz (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Barbara Robertson (Morrible), Gene Wygandt (Wizard), Stefanie Brown (Nessarose), Justin Brill (Boq). Carla is amazing to just be an understudy. Awesome vocally and acting-wise very solid. She'd gotten better since the 8/29 show. INTG is lovely, DG is great and NGD is incredible. Chandra is hilarious, and vocally stunning as usual. Popular is awesome. Carla’s braid, at the beginning, is a fishtail instead of the classic Elphaba braid; for some reason this makes me really happy. Filmed from really close to stage so has an upward and generally slanted angle. Shaky pretty often. Stage obstruction at times. Darker background. Blackouts on occasion (extended during WWOTE). Blacked out curtain call. High-res camera however. Some nice closeups. Overall decent. (VOB)
December 18, 2010 (evening): Mariand Torres (s/b Elphaba), Chandra Lee Schwartz (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Barbara Robertson (Morrible), Stefanie Brown (Nessarose), Justin Brill (Boq). Mariand is solid acting-wise, and vocally she’s great. Her belt is strong and clean, but I like the tone of her voice when she’s not belting, it’s so pure and sweet. NGD is awesome. I love Chandra’s Glinda. She’s really funny and has a nice character progression. Spotlight wash on occasion. Darker background. A few heads that block front stage action a bit. Blackouts for applause. Mostly closer/midrange shots focused on one person, which causes some shakiness trying to follow the actor. (VOB)
January 27, 2011: Jackie Burns (Elphaba), Chandra Lee Schwartz (Glinda), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero), Randy Danson (Morrible), Mark Jacoby (Wizard), Stefanie Brown (Nessarose), Justin Brill (Boq). Jackie’s young Elphaba is different than I’ve seen from her previously. It’s a bit … lighter? Happier? Not as angsty? I’m not quite sure how to describe it. But it’s interesting to watch. And then her transition is amazing. Her NGD is sooo intense and witchy, it’s wonderful. Chandra is one of my favorite Glindas. She’s so funny and vocally she’s lovely. Popular is hilarious. Another show where no one claps after INTG; it’s so strange. Blackouts/shakiness in beginning of Act 1 for adjusting. Blackouts for applause thereafter. Shakier in general in act 2. Some spotlight washout on wides on occasion. (VOB)
October 12, 2011: Mamie Parris (Elphaba), Amanda Jane Cooper (Glinda), Colin Hanlon (Fiyero), Stefanie Brown (Nessarose), Alma Cuervo (Morrible), Mark Jacoby (Wizard), Justin Brill (Boq). Not the biggest fan of Amanda Jane Cooper, but she does a good job here. Popular is really funny. Mamie, however, is just wonderful. One of my favorite Elphabas acting-wise (besides Julia and Marcie), and vocally she's just beautiful (although she has a huge lyric flub in ALAYM). Stefanie Brown is a great Nessa as well. WWOTE is a great scene. Good filming. Minor blackouts for applause (extended one during WWOTE), mostly steady shot, nice colors, darker background at times, a little spotlight washout on occasion. (VOB)
November 30, 2011: Mamie Parris (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Kyle Dean Massey (Fiyero), Kevin McMahon (u/s Wizard), Liz McCartney (Morrible), Stefanie Brown (Nessarose), Justin Brill (Boq). Mamie does a great job vocally, her endnote in TWAI lasts forever. And she acts the heck out of this part. Katie is just wonderful, so so funny and she sounds beautiful. Popular is hysterical and Thank Goodness is definitely one of her best. Something Katie does better than anyone else is the development of Glinda's character, and how she matures. Here, as in every show it's great. Awesome Catfight scene. Both acts blacked out through part of beginning. Multiple blackouts (much better after DTL) and kind of distracting spotlight washout throughout. Overall good filming though, good mix of shots, nice HD quality in 16:9 widescreen. (VOB)
February 24, 2013: Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Cassie Okenka (u/s Glinda), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Kim Zimmer (Morrible), Demaree Hill (Nessarose), Justin Brill (Boq). Suppose to be Patti Murin’s last. However, Cassie is a great substitute. She is vocally stunning. She does the optional high E in NOMTW. And acting-wise she’s really fun to watch. Sharing secrets/Popular is hilarious, reminiscent of KRC. And her TG is beautiful. Dee is great as well, really strong vocals and acting-wise she’s amazing in this. NGD is awesome on both those counts. Nice to see Cliffton at the end of his Wicked career. He and Dee have a good chemistry. Overall, nice widescreen high res capture of 1NT. Some visual audience during WITF due to latecomers. Spotlight wash on wides. A little shakiness at times. Includes speech for BCEFA. (VOB)
June 28, 2013: Laurel Harris (s/b Elphaba), Jenn Gambatese (Glinda), Curt Hansen (Fiyero), John Davidson (Wizard), Kim Zimmer (Morrible), Jamie Rosenstein (Nessarose), Jesse J.P. Johnson (Boq). Laurel is awesome. Very strong vocally and great acting-wise, very dry with her humor, which I like. Her dance during DTL is hysterical. Jenn is great as well, vocally lovely and so funny. Starts midway through NOMTW. A few missing scenes (lion cub, train station, the standoff after Wonderful, “My sister’s in danger”). Ends after NGD. Filmed from the balcony, which caused some obstructions on edges and the Time Dragon Clock blocking high action. Not sure if it’s just my copy but there are weird little skips fairly frequently. Spotlight washout on wides, blackouts, wandering cam (generally pointed too high) and shakiness. Still audio’s decent when it’s not skipping and it’s nice to see Laurel as s/b. (VOB-ISO format)
October 30, 2013: Alison Luff (Elphaba), Jenn Gambatese (Glinda), Curt Hansen (Fiyero), Kim Zimmer (Morrible), John Davidson (Wizard), Jamie Rosenstein (Nessarose), Jesse JP Johnson (Boq). Shot on the 10th anniversary. Includes the first 50 minutes of the show (through Popular) and Defying Gravity. This was the Wicked cast I saw most recently. I really, really, really, love Alison. I wish there were more vids of her because she’s positively extraordinary, both acting-wise and vocally. Jenn is great too, vocally lovely with great comedic-timing. Bit of a blooper! Wheelchair magic doesn’t quite work the way it’s suppose to; it only spins but doesn’t return to Alison. Beautiful HD capture, with hardly any obstruction. Very slight spotlight wash on wides. (VOB)
December 4, 2013: Alison Luff (Elphaba), Jenn Gambatese (Glinda), Curt Hansen (Fiyero), Kim Zimmer (Morrible), John Davidson (Wizard), Jamie Rosenstein (Nessarose), Jesse J.P. Johnson (Boq). Alison is amazing, she plays up Elphaba’s short temper and gives her a bit of awkward humor along the vain of Mamie Parris which I love. The dance during DTL is hilarious. And vocally she is magnificent, wonderful DG and NGD. Jenn is quite good as well, vocally and acting-wise, though she seems to be slightly off the music at times. Curt is awesome. Not only vocally but he gives Fiyero a bit of a fratboy feel which is different than what I’ve seen. He and Alison have a great chemistry; ALAYM is very passionate. Minor spotlight washout on wides. Overall, really nice HD video. Nice closeups and wides. (VOB)
December 19, 2013: Alison Luff (Elphaba), Gina Beck (Glinda), Curt Hansen (Fiyero), Alison Fraser (Morrible), John Davidson (Wizard), Jamie Rosenstein (Nessarose), Jesse J.P. Johnson (Boq). Great capture of Gina and Alison Fraser in their first week of 1NT! Gina’s accent isn’t very convincing, but she’s a fun Glinda. She’s very posh, as many London Glindas are. She has a bit of a line flub during Kiamo Ko scene. Alison is amazing. She’s on my favorites list acting-wise, right up there with Marcie and Julia, and vocally she’s really incredible. Alison Fraser is the most unique Morrible I’ve ever seen, in a good way. Blooper! Gina doesn’t get the wand off stage during Popular so Alison throws it again. Nice HD capture of 1NT. Great orchestra. Very little spotlight washout. Some shaky and wandering cam, a bit better in act 2. You can occasionally hear people reacting to the show. (VOB)
February 25, 2014: Emmy Raver-Lampman (s/b Elphaba), Gina Beck (Glinda), Nick Adams (Fiyero) Alison Fraser (Morrible), Tim Kazurinsky (Wizard), Jenny Florkowski (Nessarose), Jesse J.P. Johnson (Boq). Nice HD capture of recent 1NT. Gina’s accent has really improved. And she’s great in this, good vocals and very funny. Popular is hysterical for both her and Emmy. Emmy is a Queen. She’s a vocal powerhouse, her riffs are so controlled, she’s got a great vibrato and a really nice tone quality to her voice. Acting-wise she’s just as amazing, plays Elphaba with some quirky sass when she’s young and then matures her wonderfully. I don’t like Nick as much as Curt, but he is very good, and he and Emmy have a nice chemistry. Occasional wandering cam and shakiness. A bit of spotlight wash on wides. Great colors. Overall, a great video. (VOB)
May 31, 2014: Emmy Raver-Lampman (s/b Elphaba), Gina Beck (Glinda), Timothy A. Fitzgerald (u/s Fiyero Act 1), Kyle Brown (u/s Fiyero Act 2), Alison Fraser (Morrible), Tim Kazurinsky (Wizard), Brenda Jean Hamilton (u/s Nessarose), Jesse JP Johnson (Boq). Beautiful HD widescreen capture of 1NT. Gina is solid both vocally and acting-wise. Her American accent is cute with a slight lilt, and she’s quite posh as Glinda, but still fun. Popular is hilarious. Emmy is pure freaking brilliance. I don't understand how she's not lead. Her acting is up there with Marcie’s but still really unique, with choices you don’t often see in actresses playing Elphaba. Vocally, she could not be more of a queen. Strong vibrato and belt with effortless riffs. Kyle while vocally not that impressive has a great chemistry with Emmy in ALAYM. Darker background but well filmed with no obstructions. (VOB)
August 30, 2014: Emma Hunton (Elphaba), Shannon Mari Mills (u/s Glinda), Nick Adams (Fiyero), Alison Fraser (Morrible), Tim Kazurinsky (Wizard), Jenny Florkowski (Nessarose), Etai Benshlomo (Boq). Quality capture of Emma during her tour run. I prefer her voice when she’s not belting personally. I love its tone quality. Acting-wise she’s interesting, her Elphaba is super quirky and weird but also sweet. Poppy Fields and Train Station are great scenes for her and Nick together. NGD is her best scene by far. Shannon is good. Her voice both speaking and singing reminds me of Jenn Gambatese. Alison has gotten even wackier with her Morrible but it’s amazing. Her acting choices are so unique. She’s probably one of my favorite Morribles. Blooper! Shannon misses her entrance during OSD. She sings off stage until “…place where we belong.” Some head obstruction and shakiness during Room Assignments due to latecomers. Blackout during Thrillifying News. Some focus adjustments on occasion. (VOB)
(VOB)
2nd National Tour
March 28, 2009: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Heléne Yorke (Glinda), Colin Donnell (Fiyero), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Jacqui Graziano (u/s Nessarose) Ted Ely (Boq). Marcie and Heléne are one of my favorite pairings. Their voices blend so well. Heléne is hilarious. And Marcie’s acting-choices are some of my favorite. Both of them are very strong vocally as well. Act 1 mostly blacked out until wheelchair magic. Marcie’s face blocked by dragon in DG. Blooper! Halfway through TG, the power goes out. Heléne continues a bit after this, but then the show is stopped. Video continues until the show starts back up (blacked out but at TG) and visual video resumes again at WWOTE. Multiple blackouts, wandering cam and shakiness throughout. Darker background. No curtain call. (VOB)
March 29, 2009: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Heléne Yorke (Glinda), Colin Donnell (Fiyero), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Jacqui Graziano (u/s Nessarose), Ted Ely (Boq). Heléne and Marcie are wonderful together and in their respective parts. Heléne’s Glinda is hilarious, and Marcie is so strong all around throughout. Really great DG. Audience head obstruction on edges of screen (left side especially), slightly better when zoomed in. Minor spotlight washout on wides. Wandering cam at times. Shakiness throughout. Darker background. No curtain call. (VOB)
June 14, 2009: Carrie Manolakos (s/b Elphaba), Heléne Yorke (Glinda), Colin Donnell (Fiyero), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Kristine Reese (Nessarose), Ted Ely (Boq). Carrie is strong vocally. The nuances in her voice are really amazing. Awesome NGD. And acting-wise she’s really great as well. Heléne is vocally stunning and really hilarious as always. Shaky at times (more so in Act 2). Some spotlight washout. Minor blackouts for applause. Rare audience head obstruction. Otherwise, good quality video, good show overall. *seeking replacement links!* (VOB)
June 20, 2009: Carrie Manolakos (s/b Elphaba), Michelle London (u/s Glinda), Colin Donnell (Fiyero), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Kristine Reese (Nessarose), Ted Ely (Boq). *Starts at "What is This Feeling"* Carrie and Michelle are great together. Michelle is vocally stunning. She hilariously attempts Heléne’s signature split during Popular. Carrie is one of the cleanest ever with her vocal runs, IMO. They’re all very deliberate and she always knows exactly where she’s going with them. Thank Goodness is a great scene for Michelle and Colin. Michelle’s ending is quite lovely as well. Kristine’s WWOTE is great. Occasional audience head obstruction lower right but not too distracting. Some spotlight washout on wides. Darker background at times. Blackouts for applause. Shaky and unfocused on occasion. (VOB)
October 17, 2009: Anne Brummel (u/s Elphaba), Heléne Yorke (Glinda), Colin Donnell (Fiyero), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Peter C. Ermides (u/s Wizard), Kristine Reese (Nessarose), Ted Ely (Boq). Great capture of Anne when she was just an u/s. She’s great in this, strong vocals and solid acting-wise. Very nice DG and NGD. Heléne is wonderful as well. Beautiful vocally, she’s got such a strong belt; TG is just lovely. And she’s so funny, Popular is hilarious. The entire WWOTE scene is really amazing for Kristine. I also really like the 2NT ensemble in general. This company is just so fun and interesting to watch. Some spotlight washout on occasion. Blackouts for applause. A bit of shakiness, but overall well filmed. Nice mix of shots. (VOB-ISO form)
March 7, 2010: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Heléne Yorke (Glinda), Colin Donnell (Fiyero), Erin Wilson (u/s Morrible), Don Amendolia (Wizard), Jacqui Graziano (u/s Nessarose), Zach Hanna (Boq). Heléne, Colin, and Carrie's (s/b Elphaba) last. Marcie is definitely one of my favorite Elphies acting-wise, and vocally she’s great. Very nice DG. Heléne is vocally stunning and her Glinda is hilarious. Their voices blend really well together too. This is a pretty crazy show because it’s Heléne’s last. But it’s really fun to watch. Heléne is out of control during Popular and you can see Marcie’s just trying not to completely break character. It’s positively hysterical. Tearful For Good. Some audience obstruction in beginning of act 1 due to late comers. Beginning of Act 2 blacked out. Pretty consistent spotlight washout, but still watchable. Good quality video, some shakiness at times. Includes Marcie’s sweet goodbye speech. (VOB)
October 3, 2010: Vicki Noon (Elphaba), Rachel Potter (u/s Glinda), Chris Peluso (Fiyero), Don Amendolia (Wizard), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Kristine Reese (Nessarose), Zach Hanna (Boq). I never liked Rachel in XFactor, but vocally she’s wonderful here. Popular is funny, especially “Just wear the frock, it’s pretty!” Vicki is really great too; she’s got a lot of subtleties in her acting that I love, and vocally she’s clean. Nice catfight scene. NGD is very good. A little spotlight washout on wides. Frequent blackouts but they really short, no more than a few seconds. Rare railing obstruction. Wandering cam at times. (VOB)
March 9, 2011: Anne Brummel (Elphaba), Natalie Daradich (Glinda), David Nathan Perlow (Fiyero), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Michelle London (Nessarose). I really don’t care for Natalie’s soprano, but acting-wise she’s great. Funny and bubbly. Anne’s voice is really lovely, but she’s got a nice strong belt. She gives young Elphaba a sweeter side, less angsty than some, but her transition to ‘wicked witch’ is amazing. Her NGD is awesome, both vocally and acting-wise. David is great as Fiyero, I just really like his interpretation of the character. Him and Anne have a great chemistry, ALAYM is very passionate. Some spotlight washout throughout, not too distracting. A few blackouts for applause, though not always. Overall nice capture. (VOB)
March 13, 2011: Christine Dwyer (s/b Elphaba), Lesley McKinnell (u/s Glinda), David Nathan Perlow (Fiyero), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Michelle London (Nessarose), Zach Hanna (Boq). Christine is awesome. Vocally really strong all the way through. I love her vibrato. Lesley is really good as well. They both do an amazing job especially being s/b and u/s. Great Catfight. Spotlight washout on wides and some mediums. Shaky and a bit laggy at times. Blackouts on occasion (extended during Room Assignments, One Short Day). Missing VOB 4 of Act 2, meaning it cuts off toward the end of "For Good". *seeking replacement* (VOB)
April 3, 2011: Christine Dwyer (s/b Elphaba), Natalie Daradich (Glinda), Daniel Torres (u/s Fiyero), Jody Gelb (Morrible), Don Amendolia (Wizard), Michelle London (Nessarose), Zach Hanna (Boq). I’m not a huge fan of Natalie’s soprano, but she’s a fun and bubbly Galinda. Christine is wonderful throughout, strong belt and nice vibrato. Great DG. Acting-wise they’re both awesome, very funny and honest with their characters. Blooper! Natalie doesn’t enter on the suitcases in Dear Old Shiz. Something Bad is a good scene. Spotlight washout on wides and some saturation, but makes for some nice colors. Really nice widescreen capture, a few blackouts and slight rail on bottom of screen but it doesn’t block anything. (VOB)
December 11, 2011: Anne Brummel (Elphaba), Tiffany Haas (Glinda), David Nathan Perlow (Fiyero), Jody Gelb (Morrible), Don Amendolia (Wizard), Emily Ferranti (Nessarose), Dan Pacheco (Boq). Anne is vocally very good. DG and NGD are both awesome. Tiffany is so funny and ridiculous as Glinda. Popular is really great. ALAYM is very passionate. Overall it’s a good show. Blackouts for adjusting in beginning of both acts, and some on occasion for applause. Act 2 starts a bit late. A little spotlight washout on occasion. Two playing errors in act 2 (one during Thank Goodness and the other during For Good) *seeking replacements!* (VOB)
May 28, 2013: Jennifer DiNoia (Elphaba), Hayley Podschun (Glinda), David Nathan Perlow (Fiyero), Gina Ferrall (Morrible), Walker Jones (Wizard), Zarah Mahler (Nessarose), Michael Wartella (Boq). Both Hayley and Jennifer are really solid all around. Hayley’s vocals are lovely, and Jennifer has some great riffs throughout, especially in NGD. I really like Gina’s Morrible too. It’s really interesting. Great colors. A little spotlight washout on wides. Slight head obstruction on left side of screen. Nice mix of shots. Overall, great capture of 2NT. (VOB)
April 13, 2014 (matinee): Laurel Harris (Elphaba), Kara Lindsay (Glinda), Matt Shingledecker (Fiyero), Jane Brokman (u/s Morrible), Gene Weygandt (Wizard), Emily Behny (Nessarose), Lee Slobotkin (Boq). Laurel is amazing. She’s got a strong belt, can really hold a note, and acting-wise she’s full force. Her NGD is wonderfully witchy. Kara is really great too. She’s vocally lovely with a nice vibrato and acting-wise she’s silly and fun, but she matures beautifully. She and Kara have a relationship similar to Katie and Carmen’s on 1NT, especially during Popular (which is really funny). Matt is brilliant acting-wise, especially during TG with Kara. And he and Laurel’s ALAYM is very sexy. Darker background. A bit fuzzy and shaky at times, but no obstructions. (VOB)
March 29, 2009: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Heléne Yorke (Glinda), Colin Donnell (Fiyero), Marilyn Caskey (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Jacqui Graziano (u/s Nessarose), Ted Ely (Boq). December 2, 2007 (matinee): Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Melissa Fahn (u/s Glinda), Carol Kane (Morrible), John Rubinstein (Wizard), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Adam Wylie (Boq). I’m not a huge fan of Melissa’s singing voice, but acting-wise she’s pretty solid. Eden, however, is great as usual. Amazing NGD with big riffs. Very Melissa focused filming. Blackouts on occasion (extended during Lion cub scene), and for applause. Slight audience head obstruction on edges of shots. Some spotlight washout on wides (which there aren't very many of). Curtain call included but mostly blacked out. Overall nice quality video, and great show. (VOB)
December 2, 2007 (evening): Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Emily Rozek as (s/b Glinda), Carol Kane (Morrible), John Rubinstein (Wizard), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), Adam Wylie (Boq). Eden is solid all around, with strong vocals and her big riffs. Her NGD in general is one of my favorites. I love Emily. She’s so funny and her Galinda is full of nuance. And vocally she’s wonderful. Emotional For Good. Mostly closeups with some mediums and wides. A rare head comes in and out of the shot at times, but no action is obstructed. A few blackouts during action and for applause. Darker background at times. Some shakiness and wandering cam. Blacked out curtain call and Kris’ speech for BCEFA. (VOB)
December 30, 2007: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), Carol Kane (Morrible), John Rubenstein (Wizard), Marcie Dodd (Nessarose), Adam Wylie (Boq). Eden’s last show in LA (until she returns for closing run). Eden gives an incredible performance vocally, all the way through. She gets a bit choked up when singing to Megan in DG but pulls it back together for an amazing ending. Her NGD is especially great. Megan is wonderful as well, strong vocally and quite funny throughout. Okay quality. Darker background at times. (mp4)
January 18, 2008: Caissie Levy (Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), John Rubenstein (Wizard), Jo Anne Worley (Morrible), Marcie Dodd (Nessarose), Michael Drolet (Boq). Megan is wonderful as Glinda, as always. She does high E in NOMTW. Caissie is really amazing acting-wise throughout; she’s got some really nice subtleties in her performance. And vocally she’s quite strong, I really love her DG. Marcie is a wonderful Nessa as well. WWOTE is a great scene overall. Act 1 is jumps from the start of the Train Station to the start of "Defying Gravity"; Act 2 starts just after Glinda’s entrance. Blackouts on occasion and for applause. Darker background overall. No curtain call. Overall, a nice capture. (VOB)
April 23, 2008: Marcie Dodd (u/s Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), John Rubinstein (Wizard), Jo Anne Worley (Morrible), Laura Dysarczyk (u/s Nessarose), Michael Drolet (Boq). Marcie does a great job all around. NGD is awesome. Megan is wonderful as well; just as funny as when she started, though vocally she seems a bit tired at times. ‘Toss, toss” is hilarious. Slaps in Catfight scene are perfect. Some spotlight washout on mediums and wides. Occasional blackouts for applause. Intense, but nice closeups. Great quality overall. (VOB)
April 24, 2008: Teal Wicks (s/b Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), John Rubenstein (Wizard), Jo Anne Worley (Morrible), Marcie Dodd (Nessarose), Michael Drolet (Boq). Teal is awesome. She plays up Elphaba’s angst and short temper, which can be hilarious. And vocally she’s very strong; great NGD. Megan is great too, vocally lovely and so funny. TG is a great scene overall. Marcie is great as Nessa. WWOTE is brilliant. Blooper! Teal’s dress gets caught in the “Dorothy trap” after she slams it and she has to slam it again. Spotlight washout on wides/mediums. Shot from what seems like the left balcony, so on occasion action from that side of that stage is a bit blocked. Some shakiness throughout. Lots of closeups (generally un-needed), which I think adds to the shakiness. Blackouts for applause. Includes Megan’s speech for BCEFA. (VOB)
August 9, 2008: Teal Wicks (Elphaba), Erin Mackey (Glinda), Adam Lambert (u/s Fiyero), John Rubinstein (Wizard), Jo Anne Worley (Morrible), Briana Yacavone (Nessarose), Michael Drolet (Boq). Teal and Erin are great, but I love this show because of Adam. Though acting-wise he's not as strong, vocally I believe he’s probably one of the best. Erin is vocally lovely, and her acting has matured quite a bit. Thank Goodness is really beautiful. Teal is strong vocally as well. Awesome NGD. Overall, decently filmed. Multiple blackouts throughout. Shakiness and wandering cam at times. Spotlight washout on wides. Good audio, some nice close ups. Curtain call is included, but mostly blacked out. (VOB)
September 6, 2008 (matinee): Marcie Dodd (s/b Elphaba), Erin Mackey (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), David Garrison (Wizard), Carol Kane (Morrible), Laura Dysarcyzk (u/s Nessarose), Michael Drolet (Boq). I love Marcie Dodd. I cannot get enough of her. Acting-wise this may be her best show, she’s positively brilliant, and vocally she’s quite strong. Awesome NGD (as usual.) Erin is wonderful as well. Vocally lovely and she’s so cute as G(a)linda. Bit of a Blooper! Marcie slips and falls while trying to get to the broom before the Wizard just before Wonderful. Act 1 starts as just audio over shots of Playbill through NOMTW. Video does not begin until Dear Old Shiz. Shot from left stalls so there’s a head or two at times. Shakiness and some short blackouts. Darker background, but very little spotlight washout. No curtain call. (VOB)
October 29, 2008: Teal Wicks (Elphaba)/ Angel Reda (u/s Elphaba), Emily Rozek (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), Linda Kerns (u/s Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Briana Yacavone (Nessarose), Eddy Rioseco (Boq). Teal's last/Angel's first. Teal was replaced due to illness for Act 2 (They switch during OSD). Poor Teal is really sick, (couldn’t truly finish TWAI) but she does her best vocally, and acting wise she’s still very solid. Angel is not as strong vocally as Teal on a good day, and you can tell she’s a bit nervous, there’s some line flubs here and there. Emily is really amazing though; I love her portrayal of Glinda and vocally, she’s stunning. Act 1 blacked out until Glinda’s entrance, act 2 until “We couldn’t be happier”. Spotlight wash on wides. Blackouts and really shaky throughout. No curtain call. (VOB)
**Includes unknown event in which Angel sings The Wizard and I, Emily sings Popular and they sing For Good together.**
October 31, 2008: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), Carol Kane (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Briana Yacavone (Nessarose), Eddy Rioseco (Boq). Megan and Eden's first back to close the production. And they are just marvelous. This is basically like a Broadway company reunion. Brilliant DG. Emotional For Good. Multiple blackouts throughout Act 1. Pretty shaky throughout. Gets a bit better in Act 2. Great show overall. (VOB)
November 2, 2008: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Derrick William (Fiyero), David Garrison (Wizard), Carol Kane (Morrible), Briana Yacavone (Nessarose), Eddy Rioseco (Boq). Cast as a whole is great. Eden and Derrick have a wonderful chemistry. Eden’s NGD is great too, especially her, “I’m WICKED through and through.” Really great audience. Pretty shaky throughout with lots of microadjustments. Some audience head obstruction and blackouts (extended during 2nd classroom scene, beginning of act 2) at times. Decent overall. No curtain call. (VOB)
January 11, 2009: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Megan Hilty (Glinda), Derrick Williams (Fiyero), Carol Kane (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Briana Yacavone (Nessarose), Eddy Rioseco (Boq). Final LA performance. Megan and Eden are wonderful, as always. Popular is hilarious. Act 1 and 2 blacked out through much of their beginning parts. Multiple blackouts and spotlight washout, audience head obstruction pretty consistent, darker background at times. Audio is great though. And even through all that, it's wonderful to see Megan and Eden together for one last time. They put on a fantastic show. Everyone does really. Incredibly emotional For Good. No curtain call, but includes speech by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holtzman.
April 26, 2009 (matinee): Vicki Noon (s/b Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Nicolas Dromard (Fiyero), Patty Duke (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), DeeDee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Eddy Rioseco (Boq). Kendra is bubbly and sparkly and vocally solid throughout. Vicki is overall solid as well. I really like the tone quality of her voice when she’s not belting, it’s really lovely. Her DG is quite strong as well. I like Nicolas a lot. He and Vicki have a nice chemistry. TG is a great scene for him. Act 1 blacked out until halfway thru NOMTW. Short blackouts throughout thereafter. Some audience head obstruction, bit of shakiness and occasional spotlight washout throughout. No visual curtain call. (VOB)
April 26, 2009 (evening): Angel Reda (u/s Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Nicolas Dromard (Fiyero), Patty Duke (Morrible), David Garrison (Wizard), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Eddy Rioseco (Boq). Angel is solid overall. Although not always that exciting, she makes a few interesting choices both vocally and acting-wise throughout. The rest of the principals are great, no one I haven’t commented on before. Most of WWOTE is blacked or shaky but DeeDee sounds wonderful. Lots of head obstruction, some blackouts and shakiness trying to shoot around it. A little spotlight wash. When there’s no obstructions it’s pretty decent quality. Overall, watchable, but not great. Includes Nic’s speech for the Actors’ Fund. (VOB)
June 16, 2009: Teal Wicks (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Nicolas Dromard (Fiyero), Patty Duke (Morrible), Lee Wilkof (Wizard), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Eddy Rioseco (Boq). Not the best capture to come out of San Fran. But I really like this company for some reason. Teal and Kendra are great together. Kendra is one of the most consistent with her Glinda. She's always so cute and bubbly and vocally lovely. And Teal is so fun to watch as Elphaba and vocally she’s very strong. Set blooper! The Wizard head doesn’t turn around during the ball scene. Some spotlight washout on wides. Audience obstruction throughout. Occasional blackouts (one extended thru NGD), shakiness and wandering cam throughout. No curtain call. (VOB)
August 1, 2009: Teal Wicks (Elphaba), Natalie Daradich (s/b Glinda), Nicolas Dromard (Fiyero), Patty Duke (Morrible), Lee Wilkof (Wizard), Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Eddy Rioseco (Boq). Nice to see Natalie a bit earlier in her Wicked career. Vocally she’s solid and acting-wise she’s great. Her G(a)linda is slightly grander than in 2NT captures, but still very fun. Teal is great overall, as usual. Bit of a Blooper! Either Teal or Nic’s mic blows out or something during ALAYM because we briefly lose their audio a couple times. It’s not too noticeable though. Shakiness and a bit of spotlight wash. Darker background. Decent picture but audience head obstruction throughout. A few blackouts here and there. (VOB)
August 2, 2009: Teal Wicks (Elphaba), Alexa Green (u/s Glinda), Nicolas Dromard (Fiyero), Lee Wilkof (Wizard), Patty Duke (Morrible), DeeDee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Alexander Selma (u/s Boq). Teal is solid all-around, I love her voice. Alexa is vocally stunning, with great clear tones and some nice riffs. Popular is really funny. Her Galinda wig is really pretty as well. Nicolas is great too, he’s a bit unique in how he plays Fiyero, and vocally he’s very good. He and Teal have a nice chemistry. Alexander is a really fun Boq and Patty’s Morrible is so zany. Darker background and a bit of spotlight washout. Some heads at times and bar obstruction on bottom of screen. Some blackouts (a couple extended no longer than 2 min) and some shakiness/wandering cam. (VOB)
March 27, 2010: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Kyle McDaniel (u/s Fiyero), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Jody Gelb (Morrible), DeeDee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Etai Benshlomo (Boq). Acting-wise Eden is just as good, if not better than, when she started. It may have been that she was sick, but vocally she just seems really tired. You can tell she’s not at her best. Kendra is adorable as usual. And vocally still as strong. Her and Eden are cute together. Kyle has improved a lot since his u/s days in 1NT. Major spotlight washout at times. Blackouts for applause and some extended throughout (end of WITF into classroom scene, TG). Shaky and wandering cam at times. Some head obstruction on occasion. Includes Eden’s speech for BCEFA. (VOB)
June 26, 2010: Eden Espinosa (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Nicolas Dromard (Fiyero), Tom McGowan (Wizard), Jody Gelb (Morrible, act 1)/ Fiama Fricano (u/s Morrible, act 2), DeeDee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Etai Benshlomo (Boq). Eden, Kendra, and Nicolas’ last performance. Eden’s acting is really great, but vocally you can tell she’s a bit tired. Her DG is amazing though. She hits all her big riffs. Kendra is wonderful as well, just as bubbly and sparkly as always, and her belt is much stronger than when she started. Thank Goodness is lovely. Awesome Catfight. Really emotional For Good. Lots of blackouts from NOMTW till Classroom scene. Act 2 blacked until Glinda’s entrance. Some intense spotlight washout at times, generally on wides. Includes DeeDee’s goodbye speech. (VOB)
July 2, 2010: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Jody Gelb (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), DeeDee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Etai Benshlomo (Boq). I’m really starting to appreciate how vocally flawless Alli is consistently. She’s really amazing here and so so funny. Her Popular is hysterical. She does optional high note in NOMTW. Marcie is amazing as well, acting-wise especially. Her and Alli are really great together. Slaps in catfight scene are perfect. DeeDee is probably my favorite Nessa, her WWOTE is wonderfully heartwrenching. Spotlight washout throughout. Blackouts on occasion. No curtain call. Overall, nice quality video, great show. (VOB)
September 5, 2010: Marcie Dodd (Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Cliffton Hall (Fiyero), Jody Gelb (Morrible), Tom McGowan (Wizard), DeeDee Magno Hall (Nessarose), Etai Benshlomo (Boq). Last San Francisco show. Alli does optional high note in NOMTW. She’s really great throughout. Popular is absolutely hysterical, with lots of little add ins. Defying Gravity is great too. Marcie does a solid job vocally throughout, and acting-wise she's amazing, as usual. DeeDee is once again wonderful in WWOTE. Overall that’s a great scene. Blackouts for applause. Somewhat distracting spotlight washout throughout, on wides and some medium shots. Occasional minor head obstruction. Besides washout, quality is really great. The audience had great energy too. Includes speech from David Stone. (VOB)

London (West End)
October 18, 2007: Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Dianne Pilkington (Glinda), Oliver Tompsett (Fiyero), Susie Blake (Morrible), Nigel Planer (Wizard), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose), James Gillan (Boq). Kerry is great overall in this. Great DG, awesome capework and vocals in NGD. Dianne’s voice is too squeaky for my taste, but vocally she is still very good. Oliver is vocally brilliant. The riffs he produces are amazing. DTL is awesome. I’m absolutely in love with his voice. The orchestra is really great too. Occasional blackouts and audience head obstruction. Some spotlight washout on wides. Darker background at times. Can be shaky on occasion. (VOB no subtitles, mp4 with subtitles)
February 9, 2009 (Highlights): Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Dianne Pilkington (Glinda), Oliver Tompsett (Fiyero), Desmond Barritt (Wizard), Harriet Thorpe (Morrible), Kady Jo Jackson (u/s Nessarose), Jeremy Legat (Boq). Highlights includes: Room Assignments, The Wizard and I, WITF, Elphaba/Nessa in DTL, part of Ozdust Ballroom, Sharing Secrets and Popular, Lion Cub, Poppy Field, I'm Not That Girl, Sentimental Man, Defying Gravity, WWOTE, Goat on the Lam, Reprise/ALAYM, No Good Deed, For Good, Green Bottle, Finale. Depending on the scene, can be shaky and unfocused, have head obstruction, be completely blacked out, or have some washout. Audio is good though. Vocally, everyone is great, though every song seems a little bit faster than what I'm used to. Not enough full on scenes to gauge acting. Decent highlights video. (VOB)
April 28, 2010: Rachel Tucker (Elphaba), Louise Dearman (Glinda), Lewis Bradley (u/s Fiyero), Julie Legrand (Morrible), Clive Carter (Wizard), Stevie Tate-Bauer (u/s Nessarose), George Ure (Boq). I love the orchestra in London it’s so much more fun. Rachel and Louise are both wonderful vocally. Though I find Louise’s Galinda a bit annoying, Glinda is lovely. Thank Goodness is really beautiful. I really like Lewis as well. He’s just an u/s, but all around he’s really great. ALAYM is really sweet. You can hear the person filming singing, talking and reacting to the show a bit. Rare audience head at the bottom of screen. Some spotlight washout on wides. Shaky and wandering cam at times. Occasional blackouts. (VOB)
November 23, 2010: Rachel Tucker (Elphaba), Sarah Earnshaw (s/b Glinda), Lee Mead (Fiyero), Julie LeGrand (Morrible), Clive Carter (Wizard), Cassandra Compton (Nessarose), Danny Mac (u/s Boq). Rachel is amazing. Vocally so strong and clean with awesome riffs, especially in DG. Sarah’s Galinda seems a bit over-indulgent to me but in Act 2 she calms down some, I guess b/c she’s more mature. Vocally, though, she’s lovely, her Thank Goodness especially so. Danny is too adorable as Boq and he’s only an u/s. Clive’s Wizard is borderline crazy, but it’s fun to watch. The orchestra is really amazing as well. Skips One Short Day. Shaky and blackouts throughout (perhaps too much adjusting). Little spotlight washout. No curtain call. (VOB)
December 7, 2013 (matinee) *CityofEmerald's master*: Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Savannah Stevenson (Glinda), Jeremy Taylor (Fiyero), Sue Kelvin (Morrible), Sam Kelly (Wizard), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose), Sam Lupton (Boq). Willemijn sounds amazing (though not as riff-y as I’d like), her vocals are flawless and clean. NGD is awesome. And acting-wise she’s great as well. Her accent is so cute. It’s so nice to (kind of) see video from her London run. I wish there were more. Something about Savannah doesn’t sit well with me; I can’t really place it. But her vocals are clean and she sounds good. Act 1 audio only. Camera pointed too high in Act 2. But it’s a high-resolution cam. Audio overall is very good, nice and clear. (mp3/mp4) *Limited Trade*
October 25, 2014: Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Savannah Stevenson (Glinda), Jeremy Taylor (Fiyero), Sue Kelvin (Morrible), Martyn Ellis (Wizard), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose), Sam Lupton (Boq). Evening cast change, so the crowd is fun and the cast has a nice energy. Kerry is great. Vocally so strong and she still has her riffs and growls. Her NGD is amazing. I like Savannah more in this. Vocally lovely with a fun humor yet still quite posh. Bit of a line flub: Martyn calls Kerry ‘Elsa’ when they meet again in the Wizard’s Lair. Emotional For Good. Starts towards the end of TWAI. Shaky. Blackouts at times and nearly consistent head obstruction. Darker background. The same small OSD choreo change from the 8/21 Broadway is also in this show. No curtain call. (VOB)
